Our story
Built from the Ground Up

From Driveways to Major Commercial Projects
Ten years ago, Greer and Scott Dykes launched American Equipment and Excavation with nothing more than a bobcat skid steer, a dump trailer, and a whole lot of determination. Their first jobs were driveways, horse properties, and landscape rock refreshing — the kind of work that builds a reputation one satisfied customer at a time.
Over the next decade, that reputation grew into something bigger. Today, American Equipment and Excavation is a fully licensed grading and excavating company — preferred subcontractors for some of the most respected commercial contractors in the Valley. From residential pads to large-scale commercial site work, if it involves dirt and rock, we do it.
We're still family-owned and woman-owned — Greer holds the contractor's license and runs the business, while Scott is in the field on every major job. That means every project still gets the same personal attention it did on day one.

Everything Dirt and Rock
From the driveways and horse arenas we started with, to commercial grading, excavation, drainage, pad construction, site preparation, and demolition — if it's in the ground, we handle it.
9,300 lbs of food and $11,476 raised in a single event — Foothills Food Bank's largest holiday food drive.
Giving back
Lights, Love, and Giving Back
Every December, Scott and Greer transform their Desert Hills home into a jaw-dropping display of 350,000 twinkling lights — drawing crowds not just to marvel at the spectacle, but to give back to their community. What started nine years ago with a few thousand lights has grown into the largest-grossing holiday food drive for Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center. For the last six years, neighbors and friends have been invited to join a holiday party, enjoy the lights, and donate food and funds for those in need.
